Ambriel Elf cats is the dream of Jennifer Herr who has previously been involved with Javanese and American Curls. Jennifer is still involved with Javanese on a very small scale and devotes most of her attention to the American Curl and Elf Cat breeds.
Ambriel would not be in existence if it were not for the help, guidance, and advice of Karen Nelson of Falmari. Karen has been a great help to me with my cats and has really been a wealth of information. I appreciate all the time she has spent with me on the phone over the last many months.
I met Karen under some not so great circumstances and through our mutual issues with another breeder who is no longer actively seeking advancement of the elf cat. I can only say that I wish I had met Karen before meeting this other breeder because if I had I would not be dealing with the heartbreak that I have had over the last 6 months.
At Ambriel we believe in preserving the original intent of this breed and that was for a cat who was hairless like a Sphynx but having the curled ears of the American Curl. Elf Cats currently are allowed to outcross with Sphynx, American Curl, and Domestic Shorthairs, that have no recognized registration.
As Elf cat breeders we are truly dedicated to protecting and preserving this breed from the start. We have a sincere desire to see this breed succeed and in helping it become a fully recognized breed eligible for championship competition. We will remain committed to this breed for as long as it takes and are willing to help any others who are interested in beginning this journey with us.
